In the summer you often have to run on sun-baked hot asphalt one day and on a rain-flooded road surface the very next day. For this reason, your tire, to keep it in contact with the ground in such varying circumstances, needs to be well maintained throughout the summer season.

    Air pressure in the tire
  • Having either too high or low air pressure in the tire is highly likely to cause a safety problem. In the summer, tire pressure must be checked regularly as the tire expands and contracts according to the temperature change.
  • - Air pressure and fuel efficiency
Once the air pressure drops down 10% below the optimum level, the life span of tire decreases by 15% and with every 0.21 bar drop in air pressure, fuel efficiency drops by 1.5%.
    - Caution when checking the air pressure in tire
Tire pressure must be checked before driving at ambient temperatures. Precise measurement of the pressure is out of the question after driving because heat from friction has already raised the pressure. Your tire can exert the highest performance when it is inflated to the level recommended by the manufacturer of the car to which your tire is fitted.
    Tire wear
  • When you drive at 80km/h on the wet road in the summer, the grip and braking force of your tire deteriorates and, in severe cases, your tire suffers hydroplaning during the contact with the road surface. The worse the tire wear, the stronger the likelihood that hydroplaning happens, even at low speeds. Therefore, it is important to check the tire wear in order to remain safe on wet roads.
NEXEN TIRE gives you a special tire for the summer season
  • The recommended NEXEN TIRE product for the summer season is the new N'FERA SU1 and N'FERA SU4, both launched this year.
N'FERA SU1 is an ultra high performance tire, offering powerful wet grip, stable cornering and excellent driving performance. The test result shows that the tire provides optimal grip, improved handling and stable braking performance in all driving conditions on both wet and dry roads based on advanced POS and HES technologies.

For details about N'FERA SU1, check the last issue of the webzine.

Another recommendation is the N'FERA SU4. As an ultra high performance asymmetric summer tire with unmatched drainage and grip, it delivers a refreshing driving experience on wet surfaces.
Comparison with competing products reveals that N'FERA SU4 has better drainage, handling and braking force on wet roads as well as higher energy efficiency.

For details about N'FERA SU4, check the last issue of webzine.
