The new tire labeling regulation, effective May 2021, is intended to provide consumers with more extensive information than ever before. To this end, the class of RR and WetGrip were rearranged, and the noise class were changed from sound wave symbol(s) to A/B/C characters. The QR code in the upper right corner also allows information on individual tires to be downloaded from the *EPREL database. There is also an indication of whether the Severe Snow Condition(Snow Grip Pictogram) or Ice Grip Index(Ice Grip Pictogram) is recognized. The new EU tire label is intended to allow consumers to choose more fuel-efficient tires and obtain information about the braking force at the same time. In addition helps reduce noise exposure in vehicles through information about pass by noise.
The EU Tire Label allows consumers to choose more fuel-efficient tires, which can lead to great savings for motorists and commercial vehicle operators in terms of both costs and emissions. Road safety is improved through better wet grip while information on noise levels helps reduce traffic-related noise pollution.

Fuel efficiency class are related to rolling resistance. By reducing rolling resistance, the tire consumes less energy and eco‐driving can significantly reduce fuel consumption. (Tire pressure needs to be regularly checked to optimize fuel efficiency)

Wet Grip is one of the most important safety characteristics of a tire. Tires with very good wet grip have a shorter braking distance when it rains (Tire pressure needs to be regularly checked to optimize wet grip)

As the alphabet A goes to C, the more road noise is created from the tires.

Snow Grip, Ice Grip Test completed or not
We can identify a Car/SUV (C1) Nordic winter tire with confirmed ice performance with an ice marking (for Nordic soft compound tires only) directly on the label and it is not yet available on the label. No test or ISO regulation have been defined for Van or Truck (C2 and C3). For the snow pictogram, the tires need to comply with the 3PMS limits in testing on snow – valid for Car/SUV, Van & Truck (C1, C2 and C3) with different conditions and references.

※ If a snow and ice grip tire is used in summer, you will not experience the full advantages of driving on summer tires in summer, like better wet and dry handling and braking performance, and the softer compound of winter tires means that they wear faster in summer temperatures.
