Perfect Getaway
at Blue Lagoon, Iceland

Iceland, the country of flame and ice. There is a renowned tourist attraction that can be found in this remote nation.
The Blue Lagoon geothermal spa, featuring an extraordinary view of milky blue water and white vapor.

The ‘Blue Lagoon’ spa is located in a lava field in Grindavik around 39 km from the capital city, Reykjavik, and 13km from Keflavik International Airport. It stretches over an area of 5,000 square meters, the largest of its kind in the world. The lagoon is man-made, yet looks very 'natural.' The water temperature in the spa averages 40 ℃.

The outdoor spa area commands its signature view of the Blue Lagoon: blue and white. The milky blue water makes a fantastic contrast against the black lava rocks surrounding the spa. Vapor rising from the spa water of around 40 degrees distinctly creates a dreamlike scene against snow-covered mountains in the distance.
Water in the Blue Lagoon feels like a mixture of milk and mud upon being touched. It is rich in minerals such as silica and sulfur and has traces of seaweed. Silica, a white substance formed on lava rocks, is a natural compound of silicon and oxygen and is specific to this region. Silica is reputed to have a good effect on the skin. Applying it to your face and removing it with spa water when it is moderately dry will also make your skin feel much softer. Boxes containing mud are available throughout the spa and are free for you to use.

There are other amenities in the Blue Lagoon, including small indoor pools, restaurants, and health clinics. You can also experience dry or wet saunas unique to Northern Europe, small caves and man-made waterfalls. You can also receive a massage under pouring water. Small bars above the spa offer drinks including beer and wine. Savoring some cold beer or wine while enjoying a long, relaxing bath in the hot spa will truly complete your travel in Iceland.

According to locals, the best temperature to fully enjoy the Blue Lagoon is 10 degrees below zero. The combination of ice-cold air and hot spa water is something you can't easily turn down a chance for experiencing.
Just close your eyes and imagine cold wind caressing your head while your body is immersed in hot water.
