1. Harbin Ice Lantern Festival

The Harbin Ice Lantern Festival of China is one of the world's top three winter festivals and the largest winter festival in terms of size. The official title of this festival, which presents a different theme every year, is the 'Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival'. Held in the Zhaolin Park, Harbin, Heilongjiang, China, this festival exhibits ice models of world's famous buildings and arts created by famous ice sculptors.

It is held from January 5 to February 5, and at night, it creates a dreamlike atmosphere with lanterns of many different colors inside ice. 3. Quebec Winter Carnival

The Quebec Winter Carnival is an annual winter festival held in Quebec City, a city touted to be France of North America. The festival is held usually from late January for about 17 days. The 2016 Quebec Winter Festival dates are from January 29th to February 14th.

The carnival is famous for its various experiential programs, including ice canoeing on the frozen river with ice sculptures, dog-sledding that compares with that of the Antarctic, snow bathing of people only in swimming suits, snow rafting, carnival queen contest, and ice climbing. As the entire Quebec City becomes a venue for the festival, on the first day of the festival, the mayor hands over a key representing the sovereign power of the city to the mascot Bonhomme.
